Thoughts on Becoming “That Mom” and God’s Sense of Humor

Written by

These cartoons from NickMom are cracking me up! I hate to admit how many times I now realize I judged random moms before I having kids of my own.

It’s funny how much we sometimes think we know despite never having walked in those shoes.

Wow, how God has humbled me since becoming a mother!

I sometimes recognize disapproving glances, and have even received comments at times, as have many of my mom-friends.

As moms, we have to carry on and do what we know to be best for our situation and kiddos. We’re working towards deeper and higher goals than merely “picture perfect” exteriors. We shaping little people whose hearts and souls are at stake. Sometimes you have to choose your battles. Sometimes you have to let go of the desire to impress others.

And truly, disapproving strangers need grace too, because they simply don’t know what they don’t know.

Motherhood has allowed me to let go of some of my people-pleasing tendencies. That’s been a good thing… a needed exercise.

Just remember, to those of you who think you know a thing or two about parenthood from a bystander’s perspective… God has a sense of humor too. 🙂

Haha these are awesome, and so humbling. I was definitely that judgmental woman who now has 2 kids and does ALL of those things. Thankful for abounding grace!
